SLAVE DRIVING ANTS AND BROKEN ARROW EXTERMINATOR

Ants use many different methods by which to survive and thrive. One group of ants knows as Amazon ants, actually use slavery as a method of control. These ants will form a raiding party that will go inside another ants colony. They made a pheromone or a smellable hormone that the victim ants will run away from. Then they go in and steal a bunch of larva and eggs. Check out our reviews!

Some of these larva and eggs will become food for these ants. The rest of them will be taken back to the Amazon ant colony and subjected to a special pheromone. This pheromone will convince these ants to become workers for the Amazon ants. They believe that they are just as much part of the colony as any other. They will work as workers, and even defend the colony with their life. Contact your Broken Arrow exterminator for more information about these crazy ants.

ODOROUS HOUSE ANTS

In Oklahoma, a majority of our ant species are outdoor ants. The one exception is the odorous house amt. The odorous house ant will set up a colony in any gap or crevice that it can find. Here it will lay its eggs, raise its young and build a life. These are almost always pests, because of course the first place they go to find food is our kitchens. These ants are special because they reproduce their colonies using a process known as splintering. If a group of workers is separated from their colony for too long one of them will become a queen and start a brand new colony.

In many cases people will go to the hardware store and get a can of a over-the-counter pesticide as soon as they see their first amt. If they spray excessively on their countertops and other places when fighting these odorous house ants, they can create a much bigger problem then when they started. These pesticides create a barrier that the ants can sense and will not cross. This means that if they trap them in a gap or hole, they could cause these workers to splinter and create a new colony. Now you have a second colony creating twice as much of a problem.
