SLAVE DRIVING ANTS AND TULSA EXTERMINATOR

There are many different types of ants in the world. These insects use many different techniques amazon ants are unique in the fact that they can’t even raise their own young. They have no worker caste. They are simply reproductive and soldiers. The reason that they are this way, is because what they do is they will march upon a rival ant colony that is near their colony. When they get inside the colony, they will produce a pheromone that scares off all of the workers and soldiers.

They’ll go into the brood and start to remove eggs and larva from the colony. Once they bring them back to their colony, some of them will get eaten, and some of them will be raised as their own. These ants will be treated with a pheromone, that convinces them that they are part of the amazon ant colony. Once they hatch, they will become the new workers for this colony. Even if they meet up with ants from their original colony, they will be violently reacting as if they were the enemy. Contact your Tulsa exterminator for help with ants.

ODOROUS HOUSE ANTS AND TULSA EXTERMINATOR

This unique species, the odorous house ant, is pretty much the only ant species in Oklahoma that actually sets up its colony inside. Because of this, we see them not only in the spring summer and fall months, but also through out the winter. These insects with set up shop, and then march on your kitchen and pantry areas in order to grab food and bring it back to their colony. They derive their name from the fact that if you see one of these ants and you crush their body, the smell that is emitted from it is very unique. I personally feel it smells like a rotten coconut. But other people have different comparisons, such as musty fruit, or a sweaty dog. Regardless, the odor is definitely unique.

Odors house ants use a special process to reproduce their colony. This is known as splintering. The female queen emits a special pheromone that tells all of the female workers to remain sterile. As long as they continue to come back to the colony and get in contact with these pheromones, they will remain sterile. But if a group of workers are separated from the colony for an extended period of time, one of the females will stop being sterile and become a queen.

She will use the workers that are with her to create a new colony and now you’ll have two colonies when there was originally just one. Often when people use a canned pesticide, they can separate a group of workers from the original colony. This in turn creates a second nest and doubles the problem. It’s important that you contact your Tulsa exterminator for help with ants.

COLONY REPRODUCTION

Splintering is not the only way the ants reproduce their colonies. Some ant species use swarmers to do the job for them. Swarmers are winged ants that will leave the colony from time to time to fly out and gather in large swarms. They will find a group of other flying ants of the same species and fly in a large swarm. They’ll try to find a mate and once they do the two will mate in mid air. After this, they will need to find a place to land, lose their wings, and then start their new colony. This is also the way that termites will reproduce their colonies.

Argentine ants are a super colony of ants. This means that the insect move so much back-and-forth between different colonies, that they can act as if they’re one humongously large colony. In fact, many scientists believe that the entire East Coast is one large, super colony of argentine ants. Because they use this method of reproduction, they can create new queens all the time.
