indoor cockroaches

In Oklahoma, we have two predominant indoor cockroaches that make their way into our homes. The German cockroach is the first of these two cockroaches. It’s the most common cockroach infestation that we find in Oklahoma. These cockroaches are brownish color and about 3/4 of an inch long. They find themselves low on the wall and feed on our food. The second kind of indoor cockroach that we often find is the brown banded cockroach. This cockroach looks much like the German cockroach, but it has three yellow bands around its abdomen. They’re many times higher on the wall, and I tend to flutter down with their wings more often. Contact your Broken Arrow Exterminator if you think you’re having a problem with either German or brown banded cockroaches.

outdoor cockroaches and Broken Arrow Exterminator

Sometimes outdoor cockroaches make their way into our home. The two most common pests that we find in outdoor car purchases are the Oriental cockroach and the American cockroach. The Oriental cockroach is a larger cockroach, about two and a half inches long and black in color. It’s kind of fat compared to other cockroaches, and it’s predominantly found inside drainage ditches and sewer systems. It feeds on dead and dying plant material, animal material and droppings. In most cases, these insects find their way into our homes looking for moisture by following a broken plumbing line, drain or some other water source.

American cockroaches are the big cockroaches of the four. These are brown cockroaches that are about two and a half inches to 2 and 3/4 inches long. They are also bottom feeders that make their way in when they can find some sort of water source inside our home. Whenever you see an oriental or American cockroach, it’s important to make sure that all of your plumbing is intact and your drains have no cracks or breaks in their pipelines.
