So in this article, let us take a good hard look at termites, their lifecycle of what are you and your Tulsa pest control experts, can do to protect your home from these insects.

THE EASTERN SUBTERRANEAN TERMITE AND TULSA PEST CONTROL

The most common termite that we find in northeast Oklahoma is the eastern subterranean termite. This termite must stay underground in order to survive. They dry out very quickly in the outside air but thrive in the humid air that is found underground. Because of this, they will build mud tubes up the side of buildings and trees in order to forge for food above ground. This will carry the humid air above ground where they can thrive. If you see mud tubes inside your house or anywhere else, then it’s time to contact your Tulsa pest control experts.

TERMITE SWARMERS

Sometime in the spring, usually in April or May, these insects will produce a special kind of termite known as a swarmers. This termite is much hardier than the average termite being able to survive in the outside air. It also has a set of wings that allows it to fly. These termites will leave the nest and search for a swarm of other like-minded termites from other eastern subterranean termite colonies. They will pair up in an attempt to make a brand new colony somewhere.

Once the pair of them mate in mid air, they will find a place to land and start their colony and lose their wings. Then they’ll dig down into the ground and create a room known as the royal chamber. Here the female will begin to lay the eggs. It will be the beginnings of a new colony. The male will work as a worker until the first eggs hatch and new workers arrive. Then the king will die off and the colony has begun. Contact a Tulsa Pest Control expert for more information. Check out our reviews!
