Your Broken Arrow Exterminators are experts when it comes to dealing with termites. Termites are wood destroying insects that have the unique ability to actually gain energy from consuming the cellulose found in the cell of a wood. This means they can infiltrate our homes and consume the wooden structural components of our houses, as well as cause damage to drywall. Keeping them out of your home is extremely important. This is probably the largest investment that you’ll make in your lifetime. So in this article, let’s take a good hard look at termites, their life cycle, and what you and your Broken Arrow Exterminator can do to help eliminate these insects.

Treatment for Termites by Broken Arrow Exterminator

In Oklahoma, we have the Eastern Subterranean termite. This termite must stay underground in order to survive. It needs humid air which it finds underground. In order to go above ground, they build mud tubes up the side of the building or trees for humid air. Then they will forage for food in these places. If you’re seeing these mud tubes anywhere within your home, you know you have a termite problem.

In order to treat these termites, a Broken Arrow exterminator will often build a barrier all the way around the house by digging a trench and pouring liquid pesticides down into the trench. It flows down through the dirt creating a sort of pesticide curtain all the way around the house in the Subterranean area. For these insects to get into your home, they have to go through this pesticide treated curtain. By doing this, they carry it back to the colony which infects them and eventually wipes out. Termite bait stations are another method that you can employ. These are bait stations that are placed all around your home. They offer a food source for these insects that will eventually Wipe Out the colony. Contact your broken air exterminator for help.

Swarmers

In the summer months, termites will release special termites that are winged. These wing termites are known as swarmers. They are tasked with creating new colonies elsewhere. They’ll fly into the summer air and group up into huge swarms of like-minded termites from all different colonies in the area. They’ll pair up male and female, mate in mid-air and then find a place to build their new colony. Once they land, they lose their wings and dig out a royal chamber. That will be the beginning of their new colony. The female immediately begins laying eggs while the male brings food for her. Once the first eggs hatch, this will be when the male will die off and the colony begins. Contact your Broken Arrow Exterminator for more information. Check out our reviews!
