If you have any problem with bedbugs, or any other pests, then it’s time to call a professional Tulsa exterminator. People are most vulnerable when they sleep. This is why the bedbug is such an evil parasite. And these insects attack while we are most vulnerable, at night while we sleep. These insects will crawl on the bed and bite you in the middle the night when you can do nothing to protect yourself. But there is something that you can do to protect yourself from bedbugs. You can educate yourself and you can get help you. So in this article, let’s take a good, hard look at bedbugs, their lifecycle, and what we can do with our local Tulsa exterminator to get rid of these insects.

BEDBUG LIFECYCLE AND TULSA EXTERMINATOR

Bedbugs use an incomplete metamorphosis in order to fulfill their lifecycle. This means that they start as an egg. The female lay eggs usually around the seam area of the mattress. This keeps them somewhat hidden from view. These eggs are small, yellow, whitish eggs that are about the size of shape of a small grain of rice. Once they hatch, a nymph will emerge. A nymph is a smaller version of the adult bedbug. The nymphs will be a translucent clear color and about the shape of an apple seed, but much smaller. They’re a little larger than the head of a pin.

Bed bugs feed upon our blood. Because of this, once the nymph has hatched, it will search for a human to take a blood meal from. Once it does this, its insides will be stained and now it will take on its orange brownish color that is so prevalent with most bedbugs. The nymph will continue to grow and feed until it gets to the point where it outgrows its exoskeleton. At this point, it must molt. The process of molting is much like a snake losing its skin. It will shed the outside exoskeleton, revealing a new one inside that will be able to grow further. The bedbug will do this five times before it becomes a full reproductive adult.  Call you Tulsa exterminator immediately if you believe that you have a problem with bedbugs.

BEDBUG MOLTING AND TULSA EXTERMINATOR

Each time the insect molts, it must take a blood meal before it can. This is because it needs a lot of energy in order to create a new exoskeleton and shed the old one. Once it reaches adulthood, the males and females will mate. Once mated, the females will search for a place to lay their eggs and the process will start again. The females will also need to take a blood meal before they lay their eggs. The process of egg laying is also a very energy consuming endeavor and requires the female to feed before it can reproduce itself.

Bedbugs are blood feeders. But they are unique in the fact that they really only can use our blood. While they can bite dogs or cats or other mammals, this blood will only sustain them at the level they’re at. It’s not good enough for them to be able to move through their lifecycle or lay eggs. If a bedbug finds itself without a human to take a blood meal from, it can lie very still in a dormant state, and survive for up to a year. If it does find another mammal to feed upon, this can extend that time frame. It’s because of this that it’s important that you call a Tulsa exterminator if you have a problem with the bedbugs.

BEDBUG DISEASES AND TULSA EXTERMINATOR

While bed bugs are a psychological weight on many people, they don’t pose any known health threat. These insects draw blood from the moment they inject their mouth parts of your skin all the way to the moment they remove it from your skin. Because of this, that means that there are is no backwashing. The medical community has not found a single instance where bedbugs have spread disease through their bites. But again, the psychological weight that these insects apply to their victims is undeniable. The sleepless nights, and the worry over having to sleep in a home filled with bugs is something that no one should have to bear.

If you suspect that you have bedbugs, then it’s time to do an inspection, and find out if you do. The adult bedbug is the size and shape of an apple seed. It’s an orangish, brown in color and can usually be seen somewhere in the mattress seams of your bed. These insects will stay close to their food supply, unless there is a large population. In these cases, the bedbugs will go up the walls and can sometimes be seen up at the top corner between the wall and the ceiling. Your Tulsa exterminator can help get rid of these insects for you.

BEDBUG SPOTS AND TULSA EXTERMINATOR

When bedbugs feed, they will often leave a small red dot on the sheets or mattress where they have fed. This is from the blood that seeps out from the biting process. In addition to this, it’s often that you could see black spots that are near these red spots as well. These are spots where the insect has defecated after eating. If you’re finding red and black spots on your mattress or sheets, especially in the seams area, then it’s time to have your Tulsa exterminator come in and treat for these insects.
