Your Tulsa pest control company can help you if you have any issues with cockroaches. Cockroaches are pantry pests; they get into our homes and feed upon the food that we eat. They love the temperatures that we keep in our homes because it reminds them of the temperate areas that they come from in tropical zones. These insects are parasites. They also spread diseases to us and our loved ones. Keeping them out of our homes should be priority number one. So in this article, let’s take a good hard look at cockroaches, their life cycle, and what you and your Tulsa pest control company can do to stop these pests from making their way into your home.

Indoor Cockroaches and Tulsa Pest Control

In Oklahoma, we have two predominant species of cockroaches that are pests inside our homes. The first is the German cockroach. This is the number one infestation that we see hands down. These are small insects about 3/4 of an inch long, brown in color, and love to find their way into our pantries and eat our food. They are usually low on the wall, but where there’s one, there are more hiding somewhere else in the wall or behind an appliance. The other indoor cockroach we see in Oklahoma is the brown-banded cockroach. This cockroach is the same size and color as the German cockroach, but it has three distinct bands of yellow around its abdomen. This insect also invades our pantries and eats our food, but we find it more on the walls and often behind wall paintings and other hangings. Outdoor Cockroaches

There are also two species of outdoor cockroaches that will find their way into our homes and become pests. The first is the American cockroach. This is a big roach, coming in at about 3 inches long. It’s brown in color and as ugly as they get. While it’s big and scary, it is more frightened of us than we are of it. It usually finds its way inside by following moisture into our homes. These insects are always looking for more moisture and are never really found in our pantry areas unless there’s water there. Usually, broken pipes can be a connecting cause that brings these insects home. The oriental cockroach is the other outdoor cockroach. It’s black and about 2 1/2 inches long. They also follow moisture and are usually around broken plumbing or drains. Contact your Tulsa pest control company for help with cockroaches. Check out our reviews!
