Cockroaches
In Oklahoma, the two species of indoor cockroaches that we see most are the German cockroaches which is the brown-banded cockroach. The German cockroaches are the most prolific infestation that we have. These are small or brown insects about 3/4 of an inch long. They are pantry pests and are really there to feed up the food that we’ve left behind. Unwashed dishes left out are the prime targets. The Brown-banded cockroach is the most interior pest that we have when it comes to cockroaches. These cockroaches look almost exactly like the German cockroaches except that they have three yellow bands around their abdomen. They are predominantly higher up on the wall and often flood down their wings if startled. These pests feed on our food as well. Contact your Tulsa exterminator for more information about cockroaches.
Outdoor Cockroaches and Tulsa Exterminator
Sometimes outdoor cockroaches will make their way inside your house. The two outdoor cockroaches we have in Oklahoma are the Oriental cockroaches and the American cockroaches. The Oriental cockroaches are large black cockroaches about 2 1/2 inches long and kind of fat. These insects most often drain ditches and sewers and feed upon dead and dying material. They will find their way into your home if there’s moisture there and are usually following moisture when they stumble in. American cockroaches are much the same. It’s a large group that is about 3 inches and is brownish in color. All these insects follow moisture when they find their way into our homes.
Usually with the outdoor cockroaches, there’s a plumbing issue or some other source of water if you find them in your home. Getting rid of these insects is important and you need someone with the right tools and expertise to do that. The perfect person to call is your Tulsa exterminator.
