Fleas are a problem how your Broken Arrow Exterminator can help you with. These bloodsucking insects attack our pets and make their lives very uncomfortable. They get into their fur and feet, causing them to become so nervous that they start to bite us as well. That’s right, they don’t care, as long as they find a mammal, they will feed upon it. While we don’t have the fur to hide them, they will definitely make a home on your pet. So in this article, we take a hard look at fleas and their life cycle, and how you and your exterminator can stop these insects from terrorizing your pets and loved ones.
Flea Life Cycle
The life cycle of fleas is a complete metamorphosis. This means that they start as eggs laid at the base of a piece of fur. The host animal will start to scratch, knocking the eggs off onto the ground, usually in a carpeted area or other high-traffic areas around the bed. Once the eggs feel the vibration of a nearby animal, they hatch and larvae will emerge. These larvae feed upon the droppings of adults, known as flea dirt. They eat this in order to get the gut biome and nutrients from the undigested blood in it. They’ll also eat just about anything else they can find.
Eventually, the larvae will develop into pupae, spinning cocoons in which they complete their development. Once fully developed into adults inside the cocoons, they will wait for the host animal to come by again and then free themselves. The adult emerging completes the life cycle. Contact your exterminator for help with fleas.
Dealing with Fleas by Broken Arrow Exterminator
Two stages of the flea life cycle are protected from pesticides: the egg stage and the cocoon (pupa) stage. Fleas in these stages can’t be killed by normal pesticide means. To get rid of them, you have to get them to come out of these stages by creating heat and vibration. The best way to do this is by vacuuming. It also means that you’ll have to treat multiple times to eliminate every generation of fleas. The exterminator will have all the necessary tools to set up a schedule of treatments to take care of these pests. Contact your Broken Arrow exterminator for an effective and quick means of eliminating fleas from your life by getting them off your pets, out of your home, and out of your yard.
