Mice and your Broken Arrow Exterminator simply don’t mix. These small rodents will make their way into your home and attempt to use your food, water and shelter for their own purposes. These unsanitary rodents will pee and poop everywhere they go, leaving a trail of filth behind them. They can carry many different diseases that you don’t want in or around your loved ones or your home. So let’s take a look at mice, their life cycle and what you and your Broken Arrow exterminary can do to stop them from getting into your home and causing problems.

Reproductive cycle of mice

Mice find themselves at the bottom of the food chain. This means that they’re constantly being consumed by predators and other larger animals. To survive, they’ve developed the ability to reproduce extremely quickly. The female Mouse can bring forth a litter of pups in about 30 days. This litter will have 8 to 12 pups in it. As soon as she gives birth, she’s able to immediately get pregnant again. This means that in a year, she can have 12 letters and up to 150 pups. That’s a lot of mice. Otherwise, they can protect themselves as well. As they have excellent hearing, this gives me the ability to sense predators when they’re near, even if they’re above them, like a hawk or an eagle.

Well, this doesn’t always protect them; it gives them the advantage of being able to hear and run away quickly if that’s necessary. While their ability to smell and feel is very acute, their ability to see is very poor. That means that to run around a room, they will often use their whiskers to feel the walls of the room as they run or smell the urine and poop that have been left behind by the last mouse that has run through. If the scent is very strong, it means multiple mice use this path, and it’s probably safer than any other. Contact your Broken Arrow Exterminator for help.

eliminating mice with Broken Arrow exterminator

In most cases, when people have mice problems, they will go straight to their local hardware store and get traps and anticoagulant baits that are designed to kill mice. Unfortunately, this is just simply too slow. Traps are messy and kill mice one at a time. You’ll never get ahead of the reproductive cycle with that.  Anticoagulant pesticides also require multiple feedings which is too slow to kill them.
