TERMITE SIGNS AND BROKEN ARROW EXTERMINATOR

If you own a home or business, it’s important that you understand what the signs are of a possible termite infestation. Here in Oklahoma, the most common termite that we deal with is the eastern subterranean termite. As its name implies, this insect stays underground. It must do this because it has to have a humid environment that will keep it from drying out. Termites find themselves above ground without any other help will dry out within a matter of minutes and die. So in order to come above ground, these insects will build mud tubes to carry the humid air above ground in their search for food. So if you’re seeing mud tubes coming up the side of your building, than you know, termites have already begun to attack.

Sometimes these termites find cracks and gaps in the foundation and make their way up inside the middle of a wall. When this happens, these mud tubes will be inside the wall and it’s impossible to see them. The only way you’ll know that this is happening is the wall will start to become soft. These insects will begin to feed upon the paper and gypsum that the Dry Wall is made out of. As it does this, the dry wall will start to get there until at some points termites will actually break through the drywall completely. Here the termites will fill those holes in with mud in order to protect their humid air.

If you’re seeing mud spots on your drywall and spots and soft spots then you know that you probably have a problem with termites. It’s time to call in a Broken Arrow exterminator that can take care of this issue for you.

TERMITE TREATMENT

They’re essentially two ways that we deal with termites. The liquid treatment and the termite bait station system are the two most effective measures that we can do against termites. A liquid treatment attempts to build a barrier all the way around your house of pesticidal treated dirt. The trenches dug around the house and a pesticide is poured down in it and then the trench is refilled with a pesticide treated dirt. Bait stations try to make a barrier as well using plastic stations buried in the ground. Inside is a bait they can take back to the colony that will wipe out the colony.
